NDIS Helpful Information

Your NDIS plan is designed around your individual goals. Here's what you need to know about how it works.

🎯

Your NDIS Plan & Goals

Your NDIS plan outlines your goals and the supports you'll receive from the NDIS, the community, and government supports. There are two key sections: "How will I achieve this goal?" and "How will I be supported?" — these match your goals with the right funded supports.

💰

Funded Support Categories

Goals in your plan are matched with three funded support types: Core, Capacity-building, and Capital. Some people might have one and others may have all three. There is a total budget making it easier to monitor and use flexibly.

For more information visit www.ndis.gov.au or call 1800 800 110.

How to Access the NDIS

You may have questions about how to access the NDIS. Here's a quick overview to help guide you through the process.

If you already receive supports from a state or territory government disability programme, you will be contacted when it's time to transition. In the meantime, your current supports and services will continue.

To become an NDIS participant, you must have a permanent and significant disability or developmental delay, be of a certain age when you first apply, live in Australia, and be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa or protected Special Category visa.

👨‍👩‍👧 Support People

As you prepare to access the NDIS, you might like to work with a family member, friend, carer, NDIS local area coordinator, early childhood partner, your doctor, or other health professional.

📋 Evidence Required

Your doctor or health professional may be asked to provide evidence by completing the NDIS Supporting Evidence Form or Access Request Form. They may also provide more information about the impact of your disability.

🔄 Existing Disability Services

If you already receive supports from a state or territory government disability programme, you will be contacted when it's time to transition. Your current supports and services will continue in the meantime.

Understanding Plan Reviews

Plan reviews are a normal part of the NDIS. Your plan review will help you to measure your progress against your personal goals, explore new goals, and identify any changes in your life.

When you become a participant in the NDIS, you will receive a plan which funds reasonable and necessary supports that assist you in your daily living and help you achieve personal goals such as increasing your independence or learning a new skill.

📊

Track Your Progress

During your plan review, provide feedback on what supports are working and how you are progressing toward your goals.

🌟

Set New Goals

Explore and set new personal goals building on your previous achievements.

📅

Flexible Timeline

Plan reviews can be scheduled up to two years apart — your NDIS representative ensures you're comfortable with timing and the right amount of time to achieve your goals.

👶 Children Under 6

For children up to six years of age, most plan reviews will be conducted by your Early Childhood Early Intervention Partner.

🧑 Ages 7–65

For children and people who are 7 to 65 years of age, depending on your situation, plan reviews will be conducted by a Local Area Coordinator or an NDIS planner.

🤝 NDIA Partners

The NDIA is partnering with experienced and qualified organisations across the country that have a strong understanding of the needs of people with disability or developmental delay, to deliver Early Childhood Early Intervention and Local Area Coordination services on behalf of the NDIA.
